Ranking just behind the Everest Region and Annapurna Region, this hidden valley offers some of the most astonishing trekking adventures, like Langtang Valley Trek, Gosaikunda Trek, and Tamang Heritage Trek. Aside from the trekking prospects, this sacred valley also doesn’t fall short when it comes to mountain expeditions. In fact, the Langshisha Ri Expedition is one of the most thrilling mountain climbing adventures of the Langtang Valley, besides other popular expedition adventures in the valley like the Langtang Lirung Expedition, Yala Peak Climbing, and Dorje Lakpa Expedition.
Although this exciting peak used to be a full-fledged mountain expedition, it was labeled as a trekking peak by the Nepal Mountaineering Association in 2002. Ever since it has been one of the most popular trekking peaks among climbers for the technical thrills it presents and the complete mountaineering experience. Located in the Rasuwa district and amidst the Jugal mountain range, this iconic trekking peak stands at an elevation of 6,412 meters ( 21,036 feet). Not only it is of a significant stature among the other trekking peaks, but it is also remarkably up ahead in the rank because of the experience it offers, traversing across the mainstream trekking route in the country and scaling one of the most thrilling technical peaks in the Himalayas.
Due to its technical slopes and the need to camp on the slopes of the mountain for two days during the expedition. Its remoteness and the need to spend elongated time on the mountain slopes are the reasons why this trekking peak received a number of climbers. However, for the same reasons, the tranquil experience with the touch of the Himalayan wilderness and the real mountaineering experience, the Langshisha Ri Expedition, is adorned. This remarkable Himalayan expedition is suitable for experienced mountaineers who are looking for a thrilling endeavor.
To overcome the technical slopes on the mountain climbers will have to use mountaineering tools and techniques even if they are not as strenuous as the 8,000-meter class peaks. There is about a 1,000-meter to 1,200-meter rope fixing area on the slope to make the ascend more comfortable. Even if this Himalayan expedition is physically and technically demanding, the panoramic views of the mountain and valleys from the summit of this peak and the sense of achievement like a true mountaineer will be something that will burn into your memory.

Useful Info
Best Time for Langshisha Ri Expedition
Langshisha Ri is one of the most incredible and thrilling trekking peaks in the Nepal Himalayas at an elevation of 6,427 meters (21,086 feet). As this is in the trekking peak class, the challenges of the mountain expedition are not on par with 8,000-meter class mountains. So, this thrilling mountain expedition can be done in all seasons, like spring and autumn (peak season), monsoon (shoulder season), and with the right preparation, even in the winter season.
Each of the seasons have their own unique add to this technical trekking peak expedition, but still, for the best experience, we will recommend the high period for the expedition, like spring and autumn. These high seasons have the most stable climatic conditions and pleasant temperatures even at the alpine altitudes. Also, if you do this expedition during spring and autumn, you won’t have to put in extra effort to deal with factors of challenging weather.
The Autumn season in Nepal is dubbed the number-one season for treks and mountain expeditions. The weather of this Himalayan country is at its most stable point during this season and accommodates the trekkers with pleasant temperatures and comfortable dry trekking trails. Similarly, the clear, cloudless, and fogless sky also reward climbers with the most stunning Himalayan vistas.
In case of the spring season, it is known as a nature’s wonderland. The landscape is filled with lushness and colorful flowers. You will be able to relish the incredible natural allurements of the hidden valley during this season. Also, there is a high chance of witnessing the eloped Himalayan flora and fauna in this season.
Temperature of Langshisha Region in Spring: 15°C to 25°C (night temperature- 5°C to -5°C)
Temperature of Langshisha Region in Autumn: 10°C to 20°C (night temperature- 0°C to -10°C)
Difficulty Level of Expedition
It is considered one of the most technical peaks in the Himalayas and considered the most difficult among the trekking peaks after Kusum Kanguru. Langshisha Ri expedition is a technical and demanding climb. This peak was a full expedition peak before it came under the control of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) in 2002.
Thus, despite its status as a trekking peak, it would be unwise to underestimate the challenges of this thrilling expedition just because of its label. This mountain expedition is perfect for those climbers who want to experience slightly more demanding slopes than the regular peaks.
Although its difficulty level can be put under a moderate level class, to scale the technical slopes of the mountain, you will need to have some mountain scaling experience as well as familiarity with different tools and techniques. During this exciting Himalayan expedition, you will have to traverse across the moraine rocks, blue ice, ice, and rock sections, as well as the steep mountain ridges. So, to scale this exhilarating peak in the Jugal mountain range, you will at least require some prior climbing experience and basic mountaineering skills.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is an absolutely mandatory requirement to do trekking and mountain adventures in Nepal. During your high-altitude journey, you will traverse across the high-altitude and rough terrains with the potential risks of injuries and sickness. Thus, if you get travel insurance for your expedition, it will be an assurance. Also, in case of any unexpected circumstances, you don’t need to bear the financial burden all by yourself.
There are several types of insurance that you can get for the Langshisha Ri Expedition. Some of the most basic packages that have coverages of upto 3,000 meters have a starting price of around US$ 50. As for the insurance plans that provide coverage up to an altitude of 6,000 meters, you can get the plan over US$ 100.
This is the cost margin of the just general insurance plan available; if you want a more extensive package with a diverse set of coverage, it can be more expensive. The travel insurance plan with the helicopter rescue cost over US$ 1,000.
Note: Besides the coverage, the price factor of the travel influence will also be influenced by the age factors. For instance, if the cost of a standard trekking package for a young trekker/mountaineer is around US$ 100, the same package is more costly for the older trekker/mountaineer.
Altitude Sickness
The Langshisha Ri Expedition is one of the most incredible and thrilling mountain expeditions in the trekking peak expedition. Due to its significant altitude, where you will reach the maximum point at 6,412 meters (21,036 feet) at Langshisha Ri summit, you will have to be careful about different types of altitude sickness. As this is an alpine altitude adventure and you will scaler your way up the ice and snow sections, besides the Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), there are also the potential risks of High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) and High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE).
So, you will need to be careful about their symptoms and be mindful of the precautionary methods. In this iconic mountain expedition, you will begin your trekking part from Syabru Bensi (1,503 meters) and reach the maximum point at the summit of the peak. So, the overall altitude gain on the trekking route to the summit is about 4,909 meters (16,105 feet).
Although there is a risk of potential altitude sickness in this expedition, Peak Climbing Nepal follows strategic acclimatization procedures. So, the climber gets enough time to adapt properly before pushing further. You will also get an acclimatization period at the base camp and on the mountain before conquering the summit.

Thanks Ang Dawa and the warm team of Peak Climbing Nepal
I am not a die hard fan of mountaineering, I don’t have what people call it ‘the fire’ which has a will of its own that encourages testing your limit. But regardless of that I was always enchanted by the alpine beauty and the sensation like how you can see the world in a different color from atop. It was about five year back when I learned that there are also mountain expedition for the climbers who are not serious about building career in the mountaineering industry. So I gradually started exploring straightforward peaks and some semi-technical class mountains. But, as the trekking peak climbs are short and you don’t spend much time on the mountain it somehow didn’t feel like a complete scaling to me. That’s when my friend who was tired of me bickering recommended Langshisha Ri expedition to me and it was a magical experience. Camping, the views and the technical part (not so exhausting), not gonna lie it was a just mind-boggling. When I reached summit it felt like I had conquered a giant 8,000 meter peak and the journey felt so complete. Thanks Ang Dawa and the warm team of Peak Climbing Nepal, this climb will be my platinum plaque.

Phenomenal Experience with Sonam Sherpa
Me and a couple of friends who were always fascinated by the alpine adventures decided to do a mountain expedition in 2018. We had previously done both Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit with a subsidiary of the Peak Climbing Nepal before taking on the alpine challenge. We successfully completed both Island Peak and Mera Peak with Peak Climbing Nepal and were looking for a bit of challenge this time around. Luckily we got chance to climb again with Sonam Sherpa who was also our climbing guide in Mera Peak expedition. The journey like we expected was a phenomenal experience; we generally take trekking peaks in Himalayas as a short expedition. But the Langshisa Ri expedition had real kick to it, felt like real mountain expedition. The part where we camped out on the mountain literally felt like we were on a glorious adventure to touch the sky. Even though the technical challenge is real in this expedition our exceptional Peak Climbing team handled it really well. Thank you for all the wonder memories, hope to see you guys again soon.
