Island Peak

Imja Tse is another name for Island Peak. This is one of the popular trekking peaks of this region. Island Peak resides in the Khumbu region above the Chhukung valley, the summer settlement.

The peak got its name as it looks like an island in a sea of ice. It is surrounded by Lhotse and Lhotse Shar Glacier. A group of expenditures from the British Mount Everest Expedition gave the Island peak its name.

The peak got its name in 1953 when the group was exploring the Barun Gorge. In the same year, it was considered the preparation climb for Everest Expedition. Charles Evan, Alf Gregory, Charles Wylie, and Tenzing Norgay were the first one to ascend the peak.

About Island Peak

Thrilling and picturesque flight to Lukla

Another one of the attractions of the Lobuche and Island Peak Climbing will be the scenic flight to Lukla. Lukla is quite popular for its thrilling flights on the narrow runway.

This is a beautiful town that is the Gateway to the great Himalayas of the Khumbu region. You begin your journey into the Everest Region from this town. Following a dense forest path, you head towards Namche bazaar from there.
