This package describes the details of Pokalde Peak Climbing.
To be at the top of a peak is the greatest feeling for an adventurer. It is just a great impression that very few people can only sense in their life, those who can dare for a thrill and adventure. If you are someone who is thinking of pushing your limits to be on the top of a mountain for the very first time, Pokalde Peak Climbing can be a great adventure.
Pokalde Peak or Dolma Ri is a peak of Nepal that lies in the neighborhood of Mt Everest. Situated about 12 KM southwest of the tallest peak in the world, Pokalde Peak is one of the popular trekking peaks in Nepal. The elevation of its summit is just 5,806m i.e. 19,049ft. The peak is also considered to be an easy and short peak to climb in Nepal. As of that, it becomes the ultimate peak for those who are trying their mountaineering luck for the first time. You cannot take many risks on your very first try. This mountain is the right pick to give you enough climbing experiences for the many next climbs.
As said before, the mountain lacks difficult technical sections and is one of the easiest climbs in Nepal. The climb will demand you little more than just trekking and that is all. However, the peak has gratifying mountain displays from its top. If not for the technical section, you should do this climb for a great snow-loaded mountain view. Sky Towering peaks like Mt Everest, Mt Nuptse, Mt Ama Dablam, Mt Lhotse, and many other Everest region alpines can be seen from the top.
Due to its easiness and low difficulty, Pokalde Peak Climbing is a prime climbing option for those tourists who wish to climb a peak without wearing crampons and using ice axes. But remember, you will definitely use ropes in certain sections of the climb. And the weather can make this simple climb a difficult one. If you wish to do it without any bad experience, you have to do it at the right time. Along with that, you need certain climbing training as well.

Pokalde Peak Climbing Route
The journey of 17 days Pokalde Peak Climbing starts after your arrival in Nepal. Firstly, you’ll fly to the Everest region via 30 minutes flight to Lukla, the entrance of the Everest region. You’ll not head straight for the climb, firstly, you’ll trek up to Kala Patthar(Everest Base Camp). That means you’ll continue following the trail that leads to Everest Base Camp. Passing via Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Pheriche, Lobuche, Gorakshep, you’ll reach Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp for the majestic Everest view and experience.
After exploring the base camp of Mt Everest, you’ll make a return to Lobuche village. By now your body will have become comfortable with high altitudes and hence ready for the climb. From Lobuche, you’ll ascend towards Pokalade Base Camp via Kongma La Pass(5,535m). The real climbing session starts from the Pokalade Base Camp where you have to spend an overnight. Moving from the base camp(4,400m) to High camp(5,000m), you’ll be only one day away from the summit day.
Your day before Pokalde Peak Climbing’s summit day will be at the high camp of the peak and overnight too. Then the next day you aim for the summit of the peak through a steep trail. It can be a bit challenging due to the rocky and challenging slope. Here you have to use ropes to complete the vertical scrambling. With that stretch, you’ll be able to stand on the top of Pokalde Peak(5,806m). Enjoy the grand view of mountains all around.
Now it is time to make a home return. You’ll leave the summit for Chhukang at first. Then you’ll slide to Tengboche, Monjo, and Lukla in 3 trekking days. Having last night spent in the Everest region at Lukla, you’ll fly back to Kathmandu to bring an end to this beautiful journey.

Best time for Pokalde Peak Climbing
Here, the best time means the time that has better climatic conditions for trekking and climbing. You cannot jump out of your bed any month and do this climbing. Although the climb is one of the easiest climbs, however, the sections of the peak are very much exposed and can turn worse with the weather. That is the reason you should pick the best times for climbing this peak.
Normally, there are two seasons known as the best times for adventures like mountaineering: Spring and Autumn. These times are the guaranteed times for adventure in the Himalayas. You will not face many uncertainties and troubles in these seasons as in the off-seasons like Monsoon and Winter. Spring runs from March to May and September to November is the Autumn season. In both of the seasons, you do not have to face bad weather, rainfall, cold, and snowfall. That is why they are called the best times for the Pokalde Peak expedition.
Yet, you can also opt for the Winter season for this climb. But you should remember that the season is the coldest season of all. You’ll need serious training, clothes, and gear for enduring this peak in the Winter season. Winter is a not so popular season for climbing in Nepal, thus, a peaceful period for trekking in climbing. For that reason, many daring souls do expeditions during the Winter season which runs from December to February in Nepal. Lastly, the Monsoon or summer season(June to August) is the most unsuitable time for adventures in the country. It is a time of regular rainfall and landslides. And to be in the mountains in such a period is never safe and sound.
Difficulties of Pokalde Peak Climbing
You might be wondering, how one of the easiest peaks in Nepal has difficulties. It is true that the trek is not that demanding but that does not mean it is entirely easy. To put in simple words, the Pokalde Peak Expedition is comparatively easier than other climbs of Nepal. The climb does not require any expertise and prior climbing experiences.
Pokalde Peak Climbing does not have any technical section or require the usage of crampons and ice axes at all. This is why Dolma Ri(Pokalde) peak is one of the easiest and shortest climbs. However, you have to take the help of a rope near the summit section. The section is vertical and for that, you have to perform vertical scrambling with ropes. If this is okay for you then there is no doubt that you’ll not be on the top of this peak.
However, it can be a difficult climb for some people.
Firstly, the trekking peak can be challenging if someone is not ready for the mountaineering yet. You must have a sound health and fitness level to walk for 6 to 7 hours on a daily basis throughout the trip. The trails you’ll be trekking are not the easier ones, they can make you sweat hard. It is never easy for a normal person to walk a steep trail. In total, you’ll trek for more than 130 KM in this expedition, this is for sure. Hence, you have to accept this fact and prepare accordingly.
Secondly, the altitudes that you will achieve on the trip should bother you. You’ll start from Kathmandu(1,400m) to end up at a surreal elevation of 5,806m(Pokalde Peak). This means you’ll see some real changes in altitudes over two weeks. For a person from low altitudes, it is never easy to quickly adapt to these high altitudes. If not acclimated well, a person can get caught by the sickness and you probably know about the sickness and its consequences.

Amazing Pokalde Peak
Observing the peak of the world in its prime is always fulfilling. But it gets better when you get to see the world’s peak after a long exhausting climb. The Pokalde peak climbing was such an experience for me. I got plenty of picturesque views of Everest before at the Kala Patthar’s viewpoint. But after a short climb of Pokalde peak, the views of Everest and other mountain climbs were more beautiful. Perhaps it was the adrenaline brought by the exhausting climb. But it was worth it. If you want a way to experience the Everest region’s moutan views from anywhere other than Kala Patthar, climb Pokalde peak.

Walking through trails of EBC to Pokalde Peak
When I chose to do the Pokalde peak climbing, I had not realized that it would lead me near EBC. My Pokalde peak climbing last year gave me a chance to make a lot of friends. The trekking trails were so full of people worldwide towards the Everest Base Camp. The routes of my trip and the EBC trek converged in many places. In a way, it gave me an experience of the Everest base camp trek and Pokalde climb at once. You can say it was unintentional, but it was the best of both worlds. I highly recommend this package if you plan on any easy-to-do mountain climbs in Nepal.

Everest through Pokalde summit
I had never heard of the Pokalde climbing trip before. But while browsing through packages of Peak climbing Nepal, I came across it. Turns out it is an expedition and trekking package in the Everest region. Although the name Everest is what caught my attention for the trip, it was so much more than that. The views of Everest were immensely beautiful on this trip, no doubt. But climbing Pokalde, living in the Sherpa community, and walking through the Khumbu trails was greater experience. The team at Peak climbing Nepal ensured that my trip would be wonderful, and it was. Theirs evenly and carefully curated package allowed me to appreciate and experience the trip to the fullest.
