Pumori is often referred to as the Daughter of Everest, where the word Pumori means Unmarried daughter in the Sherpa language. This stunning pyramid-shaped mountain is in the Mahalangur Himalayan range on the Nepal-Tibet border. It is around 8 kilometers west of Everest in the upper Khumbu region.
Pumori is a technically challenging 7,000-meter expedition in the Himalayas with steep ice and rock faces, crevasses, and exposed ridges. Altitude of Kathmandu: 1,400 meters/4,594 feet
After you land at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu on an international flight, you will see our airport representative officer awaiting, greeting, and welcoming you at the arrival gate. He will help you with your luggage and lead you toward the private vehicle, which will be on standby at your service. You will have a short, comfortable ride from the airport to your designated hotel in one of the major cities in Kathmandu. Soon after you reach your hotel, our staff will help you with check-in procedures. Thereafter, you can rest for some time in the hotel.
In the afternoon, you can participate in our pre-briefing gathering at our office, where your expedition guide will detail you about the upcoming adventure. You will be provided with every bit of information, including the accommodation, food, porter, permits, gear and equipment, safety measures, dos and don'ts, etc. As other travel members are also gathered here, so spend some time introducing and connecting with fellow trekkers/climbers.
In the evening, you are invited to a welcome dinner party, which also marks the initiation of our journey together.

On the second day of your arrival in Nepal, we will take you on a guided tour to sightsee the Kathmandu valley. We will visit some of the important cultural, historical, and architectural sites of the city. We will explore the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Durbar Squares, Bouddhanath, and Swyambhunath Stupa on this day.
After an exciting and informative excursion in the comfort of a private vehicle, we will stop at one of the nice traditional restaurants where you can sample authentic Nepali cuisine. Next, we will transfer you to your hotel, where you can rest and prepare for the forthcoming adventurous journey of climbing Mount Pumori.

Our adventurous journey of Pumori peak climbing begins with an early morning scenic flight from Tribhuwan Airport to Tenzing Hillary Airport. After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the Kathmandu airport to board a domestic flight to the gateway of the Everest region, Lukla. Soaring above the clouds, you can witness the incredible landscapes of hills, valleys, and mountains passing beneath you. After landing at Lukla, you will meet our expedition crew and porters and enjoy lunch together. Thereafter, our trekking journey begins on the wonderful Everest Base Camp trails.
As we move towards the picturesque Phakding village, the magnificent beauty and diverse landscapes of the high Himalayas keep greeting us. Descending steadily over the well-marked trails from Lukla, we pass through several Sherpa villages (Chheplung, Ghat, Chaurikharka, etc.), lush greenery landscapes (of hills and forests), and cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. After walking for around 9 kilometers from Lukla, we will finally make it to the riverside Phakding village. After reaching Phakding, you can explore its surroundings and unwind in the reserved teahouse.

Duration of trek: 5-6 hours
After breakfast in Phakding village, we will set out for an exhilarating trek soaking in the beauty and tranquility of the high Himalayas towards Namche Bazaar. The distance between Phakding and Namche is around 10 kilometers, and the trek mostly follows uphill mountainous trails. We will leave the Phakding village following the trails that pass through the edge of the Dudh Koshi River. You will cross various bridges over this river and one of which is the well-known Hillary Suspension Bridge.
Continuing on the ascending trails for around 2-3 hours, you will reach Monjo village, where we check in at the entrance of the Sagarmatha National Park. While traversing the diverse landscapes of this protected area, you can get enriched insights into the unique flora and fauna of the region. On the way, you will pass through the vibrant forest of juniper, pine, and rhododendron and the cultural villages of Jorsalle and Larja Doban. Climbing steeply over Namche Hill, you can catch the marvelous views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and other surrounding mountains. Appreciating the grand view of the majestic Himalayas, we will finally arrive at the vibrant Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar to spend an overnight.

Today, we will spend the day exploring and acclimatizing in the captivating mountainous surroundings of Namche Bazaar. Firstly, you can rest and rejuvenate in the teahouse, and after lunch, you can take short acclimatization hikes around the renowned places (Khunde Hospital, Namche Monastery, Sherpa Cultural Museum, etc.) of this village.
The hikes will allow you to adjust to the lower oxygen levels of higher elevations and help you gain deeper knowledge and understanding on the history and culture of the place. After exploring the rich natural beauty, unique lifestyle, and vibrant environment of Namche Bazaar, return to the traditional Sherpa teahouse for a night.

After rising up in the Namche Bazaar, well acclimatized, our trek continues towards Tyangboche. We will have breakfast at Namche and leave the town, following the meandering trails leading to the small Tyangboche village of Sherpa. Along the way, traversing several ups and downs trails allows you to marvel at the gratifying views of snowy mountains and glimpse into the distinctive culture and day-to-day lifestyle of the local Sherpa people.
The trails through the enchanting forest and Dush Koshi River crossing eventually take you to the Tyangboche village. This village houses the largest monastery in the Khumbu region of the same name, Tyangboche. While trekking from Namche Bazaar to Tyangboche, you will cover approximately 6-7 kilometers on this day.
After reaching the village, you can tour this historical Tyangboche Monastery and immerse yourself in its peaceful ambiance. Reside in a comfortable teahouse accommodation for the night.

After breakfast in Tyangboche, we will head toward Dingboche, descending through the forest areas. Next, we will cross a few suspension bridges over the rushing rivers and slowly enter the villages with chortens, shrines, and mani walls decorated with prayer flags. From the village of Pyangboche, we will ascent steeply up to the alpine elevations. The landscapes onwards are rough, rugged, and more remote. Following the barren rocky landscapes, we will reach Dingboche. Around 10 kilometers of walk from Tyangboche takes us to the mountainside village of Dingboche amidst the captivating beauty of the Himalayan terrains.

After waking up in the traditional teahouse at Dingboche, we will first enjoy a delicious breakfast. Thenafter, we will begin trekking towards the Lobuche village with the impressive view of lofty mountains dominating the skyline.
The trails, which initially pass through yak pastures and several small settlements of indigenous mountain communities, will slowly ascend towards the glacial moraines. Walking over the moraines, you will reach Thukla village and cross Thukla Pass. This pass is a memorial viewpoint dedicated to the climbers who perished on the way to Everest.
Descending from the Thukla Pass, you will reach another village, Dzonghla. From this village, we continue a little further to reach Lobuche. We will spend a night at basic lodging and traditional dining in Lobuche.
7-8 hrs Trek Tea House Lodge

Today, we will embark on a stirring and adventurous trek towards the last Sherpa settlement of the Everest region (Gorakshep) and the classical Everest Base Camp. As you leave Lobuche, you will encounter the remote terrains of loose rocks and glacial moraines. The landscapes become more rugged and barren, along with the magnificent view of Khumbu Glacier as you approach Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the final stop before reaching the Everest Base Camp, where we enjoy a delicious lunch at one of its teahouses.
Ascending further into the decreasing oxygen level of thinning air, we will reach the base camp of the world's highest mountain. This is where you could ever get to the nearest Mount Everest. Enjoy the wide 360-degree panoramic views of the majestic mountains from the Everest Base Camp and magnificent Khumbu Icefall, then descend to Gorakshep for an overnight stay.

We will wake up in the early morning in Gorakshep and follow the rugged trails to Kalapatthar. We will reach Kalapatthar before sunrise and enjoy the magnificent daybreak view from this vantage point of the Everest region. Encircled by the sky-craping mountains, Kalapatthar also rewards you with the sweeping panorama of the Khumbu region Himalayas.
From Kala Patthar, we start trekking towards the Pumori Base Camp, descending through the rocky terrains. On the way, you can witness the enchanting beauty of alpine meadows, glacial moraines, and towering Himalayas. You will pass villages like Pheriche and Lobuche while making it toward the base camp of Mount Pumori.
16 days climbing toward Mt. Pumori Tented Camp
Altitude of Mount Pumori: 7,161 meters/23,494 feet
Scaling the challenging 7,000-meter class mountain demands extensive technical skills along with physical and mental preparation. Generally, three high-altitude camps after the Base Camp are required to reach the summit of Mount Pumori. The strategic location of these camps allows you adequate time for rest, acclimatization, and climbing preparation. Proper rest, regular health checkups, healthy and nutritious foods, several acclimatization hikes and climbing training and practice at various camps prepare you for the technical climb of this mountain.
After full acclimatization and being well equipped with all the required climbing gear, we will climb towards the summit of Pumori. We begin the summit push after midnight to avoid the risk of unstable weather conditions after midday. With the guidance and expertise of our experienced climbing guides, you will successfully navigate the technical routes of Pumori.
Standing atop the Pumori mountain, the expansive panorama of the glistening Everest region Himalayas is disclosed before you. After enjoying the peak top moment, descend carefully to the base camp of Pumori by retracing your footsteps on the same trail.

From the base camp of Mount Pumori, we will start to descend to the lowland Everest villages. Following the rugged terrains and navigating the glaciated moraines, you will pass through villages like Lobuche, Dughla (Thukla), and Dusa. We further descend to Pheriche village before reaching Dingboche.
You can marvel at the dramatic views of mountains and experience the richness of the Sherpa culture and warm hospitality along the way. Dingboche closes near with colorful terraced fields and yak pastures. After reaching Dingboche village, you can immerse yourself in the scenic atmosphere and rest and enjoy the delicacy of local dishes at the traditional Sherpa teahouse.

The Dingboche to Tyangboche trek follows the same trails as we took before but in the opposite direction. Explore the resilient way of life of people, traditional architecture, and local culture in villages like Orsho, Pangboche, and Debuche during the journey. Soak into the mesmerizing beauty of the High-Himalayas until you retrace your food steps back to quaint Tyangboche village and spend an overnight in the teahouse.

Today, we will trek from Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar, following the same trails descending through the Dudh Koshi River and crossing the suspension bridge over it. Next, we ascend towards the picturesque Phunki Tenga village and enjoy a short lunch break. We will traverse the rhododendron forests and pass villages like Tashing and Sanasa to reach Namche Bazaar. Experience the warm welcome and comfortable accommodation of Namche Bazaar one more time.

Today, we will descend through the high-altitude of Namche Bazaar towards the lower elevations of Lukla. We begin trekking on the downhill trails, with a slow and steady descent. As we descend through the forest of rhododendrons and pine, we will pass by the picturesque Phakding village beside the Dudh Koshi River. Our trekking continues downstream along this river and crosses the suspension bridge over it. Next, we pass through villages like Monjo, Benker, and Cheplung and make a slight scent towards Lukla. Lukla is the ending point of our trek, and the arrival in this village marks the conclusion of our high-altitude adventure of Pumori Climbing.
Have a cozy retreat at the traditional Sherpa teahouse in Lukla, and prepare for the next morning’s adventurous flight to Kathmandu.

Today, we will leave the highland regions and return back to the capital city. After a delicious breakfast in the traditional Sherpa teahouses of the mountainside village of Lukla, we will move towards Lukla Airport (Tenzing-Hillary Airport) to catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu. You can experience the scenic aerial adventure one more time during your return flight.
After landing in Kathmandu, you will be swiftly transferred to your hotel. In the hotel, refresh and enjoy a mouthwatering lunch. Afterward, spend the rest of the day resting, relaxing, rejuvenating, and reflecting on the successfully completed exhilarating adventure of Pumori climbing.

On your final day in Nepal, be ready for your international departure to homeward bound. After you have breakfast at your hotel, our representative member will receive you in a private vehicle and transfer you to the airport for your final departure. In accordance with your flight schedule, he will drop you off at the airport on time.

Mount Pumori an attractive mountain located in the upper Khumbu region of Nepal. It is technically difficult sections, ascend of icy slopes with significant avalanche risk. Pumori Expedition with Nepal Guide Treks & Expeditions !!!
We were a group of 4 people from New Zealand who went on Pumori, also known as ‘ Unmarried Daughter ‘ together with Nepal Guide Treks and Expeditions. Excellent arrangement by the NGT team members. We are very delighted with the top level of service we received during the whole trip duration. Many thanks to our climbing guide – Ang-Dendi Sherpa who had outstanding technical climbing skills. His guidance and instructions led to our successful summit climb of Mount Pumori. We have a lot of pictures and memories that will remind us about our adventurous expedition of Pumori. The service provided by the team has surely exceeded our expectations. We will surely come back to do expedition of 8000 meters together with Nepal Guide Treks and Expeditions.

Nepal Guide Treks & Expedition payment and cancellation policy is as follows:
- 30 Days or Before: Full Refund of Deposit
- 20 -29 Days: 50% will be deducted from Deposit
- The deposit payment will not be refundable once the cancellation is done prior to 20 days or less.
