Saribung Peak Climbing has introduced peak expedition in the mid-western region of Nepal. The Saribung peak lies in the remote part of Mustang in the vicinity of Damodar Himal. It is an ideal expedition that includes exploration of Upper Jomsom, Mustang, Naar Phu valley, and Hidden Valley. During the Saribung Peak Trek, we will pass through several villages and it offers the opportunity to experience the diverse and fascinating cultures.

Saribung Peak is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to gain climbing experience as well as explore the less beaten region of Nepal. The ascent to the summit of Saribung Trekking is additionally thought of a rather straightforward peak ascension with relatively less technical sections.
During this trek, the summit rewards us with magnificent views of Mountains like Nilgiri Himal, Himlung Himal, Lamjung Himal, Mt Manaslu, and Annapurna II. Saribung Peak Climbing Cost and Itinerary
Saribung Peak Tour with Nepal Guide Treks starts at Kathmandu. After spending a full day sightseeing at Kathmandu, we will take a drive to Pokhara. Our trip goes over the zigzag hilly roads. We can observe the daily survival activities of local people. But our journey passes along several roadside towns and villages. From Pokhara, we will take a short and scenic mountain flight to Jomsom.
After landing at the airstrip of Jomsom, we will start our trek following the trail that heads north towards Kagbeni. Our trail passes through diverse landscapes with several villages and ancient gompas and it heads towards Lo Manthang. After spending full day sightseeing at Lo Manthang, we continue our trek passing through villages of Yara and Ghuma Thanti. And it also heads towards Saribung Base Camp.
Saribung is an easy peak for mountaineering and expedition but there are certain passes with ice and creases in between the trail which makes the journey difficult. Trekkers will also get an opportunity to experience the typical Nepalese culture and traditions.
Zigzag Hilly Road to Kathmandu
Fully equipped with necessary climbing gears and adequately acclimatized, we will follow the footsteps and guidance of experienced Sherpa climbing guides. Taking weather conditions into consideration, we will tackle several technical climbing sections and head towards Saribung peak summit. Once at the top, we can feel the breathtaking views of valleys and high peaks including Himlung, Gyajikang and Bhrikuti. We will spend a short time at the summit and gradually descend following the same route.
From the summit base camp, we follow the trail that goes along Naar Phu valley. For our return journey, we trek passing through villages of Koto, Dharapani, and Jagat to arrive at Bhulbhule finally. Our incredible experience of Saribung Peak Climbing ends with a scenic drive from Bhulbhule over the hilly zigzag road to eventually reach back to Kathmandu.

30 min Drive Hotel/Resort
Our representative from Nepal Guide Trek's will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be greeted and transferred to the hotel in Kathmandu city. Our staff will help you until the check-in procedure ends at Hotel. You can either have a rest at the Hotel or visit NGT’s office for gathering additional information about the trip. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.

Today we will spend most of our day sightseeing around some of the world heritage sites of UNESCO inside Kathmandu valley.

5 hrs Drive Hotel/Resort
Today we will take a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara which takes approximately about five hours of drive journey. We will drive over the Prithivi Highway - the scenic zigzag hilly roads and along the banks of Trishuli river. Pokhara is a beautiful town set on the banks of the Fewa Lake. It is smaller and much less hectic than Kathmandu and is the perfect starting point for our trek.

35 min Flight & 3-4 hrs Trek Lodge
Today we will take an early morning flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. Jomsom is an important hub for Mustang and Upper Mustang Treks with the airstrip, abundance of tea houses and services. We will start our trek from Jomsom on a broad trail that goes along the valley bottom to reach an oasis-like the settlement of Kagbeni where there is narrow flagstone paved paths and flat-roofed houses. We will visit Annapurna Conservation Area Project's (ACAP) registration office for registering Mustang's permit here at Kagbeni before trekking further into Mustang region.

5-6 hrs Trek Lodge
From Kagbeni our trail goes along the east bank of Kali Gandaki valley often traversing steep slopes with loose rocks. We will continue our trek passing through the village of Tangbe. Along the trekking route, we can see ancient cave dwellings with impressive rock formations. Our trail passes through the small village of Chuksang where the valley ends at a narrow canyon with additional meditation cliffs above us. With good views of Nilgiri and Tilicho Peak at a distance, we will trek along the true right bank of Kali Gandaki to arrive at Chele.

6-7 hrs Trek Lodge
After breakfast, we will leave Chele and follow the trail that enters to a small grassy basin. From here we will ascend up to Dajori La Pass at 3735 meters and descend downhill towards the picturesque village of Samar. Our trail from Samar descends rapidly into a heavily eroded watercourse before climbing steeply towards Bhena La Pass at 3838 meters. We will descend a little before making a climb to Yamda La Pass at 3860 meters. We will have magnificent views of the beautiful valleys of Upper Mustang from here. A short descend and then uphill trek will lead us to an enormous stupa at Chhungar. From here we turn right at the cairn and descend to reach the flat-bottomed valley and the village of Geling.

Leaving Geling our trail climbs a steep hillside towards the crossing of Nyi La Pass at 4025 meters. From the top of the pass, we will have magnificent views of Annapurna Himalayan ranges behind us. A gradual descent from the top will lead us to Ghami. Our trail from Ghami descends through the rough and slippery trail as we head towards a suspension bridge over Ghami Khola. After crossing the bridge we will make a climb along with the longest mani wall in Mustang. We head towards the crossing of Tsarang La Pass at 3870 meters. From the top of the pass, we will descend to arrive at Tsarang.

After breakfast at Tsarang, we will continue our trekking by following the trail that drops down to cross the suspension bridge over Tsarang Khola. After crossing the river we will make an ascend towards Lo La pass at 3950 meters. From the top of the pass, we will have mind-blowing views of the northern Mustang and Lo-Manthang. An easy descent from the top of the pass will lead us to the ancient walled capital of Mustang - Lo-Manthang.

Acclimatization is very crucial in order to avoid mental and physical illness. Lo-Manthang has several hike options for spending a good acclimatization day. A 2-3 hours hike up to Namgyal Monastery can be done for acclimatization. Besides, Lo Manthang is an interesting town where there are three major gompas to explore. Jhampa, Thupchen, and Chhoeda - all of these gompas have undergone expert restoration over the last 20 years. Explore the unique culture and distinct tradition here at the capital of the Forbidden Kingdom of Mustang.

After exploring Lo-Manthang we will follow the trail that is a gradual climb as we approach the village of Dhi. Leaving Dhi village we will follow the trail that descends downhill to cross a small stream. After crossing the stream we will make a steep uphill climb to arrive at Yara. During the trek, we will see a countless number of caves in the high stone walls.

4-5 hrs Trek Tented Camp
Today is a rather short and easy day trekking. We will follow the trail that is a gradual ascend all the way towards Luri Gompa. There are two monasteries here at Luri Gompa. At first, we will visit one which is located below the Luri Cave Monastery. Later we will make a steep ascent to Luri Cave Monastery which is one of the oldest - built in the 15th century and also the famous cave monastery in Mustang region. Inside the cave, we will witness numerous images and statues of Protectors and deities. After excursion around the cave monastery, we will relax at our campsite.

5-6 hrs Trek Tented Camp
Today we will follow the trail that descends through the gorge and heads towards Ghuma Tanthi. We will trek on the trail that has several ups and downs through pasture grounds and hilltops. During the trek, we will have great views of Mt. Dhaulagiri. We will make an ascend towards a pass at 4920 meters before descending down to Ghuma Tanthi. Ghuma Tanthi is actually a place built with the purpose for providing shelter to Buddhist pilgrims on their way to sacred Damodar Kunda Lakes.

7-8 hrs Trek Tented Camp
Leaving Ghuma Tanthi we will make a steep ascent towards a pass at 5320 meters. From the top of the pass, we will have stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. Then we descend to the bottom of Parche Khola before climbing again to reach another pass at 5480 meters. Our trail leads us towards the sacred and pristine lakes at the vicinity of Damodar Himal. Here we can spot a Hindu shrine and a very old Buddhist Chorten. We will continue to trek until we arrive at Namta Khola for our overnight stay.

Leaving Namta Khola we will gradually ascend towards higher altitudes. Our trail goes along with the alpine vegetation and over the landscapes that resemble Tibetan Plateau until we arrive at Saribung Base Camp. After arriving at the base camp we will quickly set up our tents and make necessary checks on our health conditions and climbing equipment.

Tented Camp
We will spend one more day here at the Base Camp for acclimatization. Acclimatization is very essential for staying fit, both physically and mentally for successful summit climb of Saribung Peak. Thus, we will take a day rest for acclimatization that assures the successful summit climb.

5-6 hrs Climb Tented Camp
Today we will leave the base camp and follow the trail that is a gradual ascent trekking. We will trek over the trail that is often snow-covered and icy. In some slippery sections, we will need to use our crampons. Today's trek can be very tiring, so resting every now and then helps to restore energy. We continue on our trek with great views of Khumjunggar Himal and Damodar Himal, as we approach towards a good camping site at Camp I. We will quickly set up our camps and our Sherpa crew will start making necessary preparations for the summit climb.

7-8 hrs Climb Tented Camp
Today is the day that we were desperately waiting for. Fully acclimatized and properly equipped with all the necessary climbing gears, we start early as the strong winds after midday can create obstacles for reaching the summit. Following the guidance and footsteps of our experienced climbing experts, we will climb to the summit of Saribung Peak. Once at the top we are rewarded with magnificent views of breathtaking valleys and high peaks including Himlung, Gyajikang, and Bhrikuti. After spending short quality time at the top we will descend down and head back to reach base camp.

4-5 hrs Trek Tented Camp
After the successful summit climb of Saribung Peak, we will follow the trail that leads towards the crossing of Saribung Pass at 6020 meters. From the top of the pass, we will descend vigorously towards a small stream on the trail. We will follow the trail that goes along the stream until we arrive at Nagoru for the overnight camping.

6-7 hrs Trek Lodge
From Nagoru our trail passes through several small villages inhabited mainly by ethnic groups of Lama, Gurung, and Ghale. During the trek, we will have great views of surrounding high peaks and the valleys. We will enter one of the most unique and lost/hidden valleys. In the valley, we will have the opportunity to explore the cultural and natural diversity of local settlements as we approach towards Phu village. It is believed that the stone village of Phu is as old as 800 years. In the evening walking over the small streets of Phu village will give you the feeling of going back in time. At Phu, there is a very old and famous monastery, Tashi Lakhang Monastery which is believed to be one of the last monastery built by Karmapa Rinpoche.

Leaving Phu village our trail crosses a suspension bridge and goes along a series of deserted buildings and chorten. We continue to follow the trail that descends towards Kyang. From there, our trail descends and crosses an eroded section of moraine before crossing the Mruju Khola which is the outflow of Lyapche Glacier. With good views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal, we will arrive at the seasonal settlement of Meta.

From Meta, we will descend towards the bottom of the valley and pass through the stone huts of Singenge and continue descending through the densely forested section. We will cross a suspension bridge over Seti Khola tributary and make a short ascent to reach Koto village. At Koto, there is a traditional stone doorway and a police check-post where our permits are checked and make our registration post where our permits are checked and make our registration.

5-6 hrs Trek Lodge
Today is the last day of our trek. Our trail from Koto climbs steeply as we head towards the village of Thanchok. From there we will descend a little before making another short climb to reach Timing where there are few tea houses and offers great views of Lamjung Himal. Our trail from here descends through thick pine and fir forest passing through the village of Bagarchhap and continue trekking until we arrive at the Gurung village of Dharapani.

After breakfast, we will take a drive from Dharapani back to Kathmandu. Our drive is a scenic journey that goes over the zigzag hilly roads and through the terraced farmlands, and dense forest areas with good views of Annapurna, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal ranges. The daily activities of the local people can be seen along the road when we pass through numerous villages and towns before finally arriving back to Kathmandu.

You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. The world heritage sites inside Kathmandu which wasn't possible to visit on the second day of the trip can be visited on this day. We will have a final meal together in the evening.

Saribung Peak Climbing is a technical peak in the mid-western part of Nepal having several technical climbing sections. We trek around the Jomsom, Mustang, Naar Phu valley and The Hidden Valley towards the Saribung peak. It requires full climbing gears with an experienced Sherpa guide for this peak.

We have recently completed our wonderful upper mustang trekking and Saribung Peak climbing experience in Nepal. We would like to thank – Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition for providing the top level of professional service.

Many thanks to Nepal Guide Treks and Expeditions for arranging our adventurous Saribung Peak Climbing. Overall, everyone in our group had positive thoughts about the whole setting of the trip. Our climbing guide – Ang Dawa Sherpa had good technical knowledge for tackling difficult sections. Without his guidance reaching the summit wouldn’t have been easy. We are very happy to write this review about our successful climbing experience in Nepal. Our Saribung Peak Climbing became successful with brave, experienced and excellent teamwork from Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition. Everything was well managed and wonderful.
We enjoyed a lot during our upper mustang trek and Saribung summit. Summit was obviously challenging and we faced it… finally succeeded !! Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition is highly recommended for any kind of travel-related activities in Nepal.
