Overview

Ama Dablam, which is located approximately 20 km (12 miles) to the south of the tallest peak in the world, Mt. Everest (8,848.86 meters), is one of the most exciting climbing peaks in the eastern Himalayas. In fact, the Ama Dablam expedition just ranks third in popularity for the Himalayan expeditions in Nepal. Its uncommon feature, an ice pyramid with vertical walls and sharp exposed ridges, is eye-catching for anyone doing adventures in the Everest region. Standing at an elevation of 6,812 meters (22,349 feet), this semi-technical peak with climbable snow, ice, and rock section rewards climbers with thrills and enchanting views of the surrounding peaks.

One of the reasons why Ama Dablam climbing is popular among other Himalayan peaks is due to its aesthetic shape, which resembles the Swiss mountain Matterhorn (4,478 meters/ 14,692 feet). Due to its uncanny resemblance to the Swiss alpine peak, Ama Dablam is also known as the ‘Matterhorn of the Himalaya.’ If you are seeking the true thrills of mountaineering, distinct from the regular trekking peaks, Ama Dablam is one of the most iconic prospects. Located in the heart of Khumbu Valley, this mildly challenging peak with unlimited thrill has it all that sums up a perfect journey in any adventurer’s diary.
