Overview
Chulu West Peak Climbing is a part of bigger Damodar Himalayan Range of Manang district in western Nepal. It is located at the North-East part of the famous Annapurna Mountain Range. This trekking route offers you magnificent views of Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and many other adjoined mountains. The very first ascent of this prestigious peak was made by a Japanese Expedition Team in 1953.
Though this peak is a permitted trekking peak, it is little more technical in comparison to Chulu Far East Peak (6,059m). Therefore, if you are hoping to step high upon Chulu West Peak, you must have the good physical condition and high level of stamina. Chulu West Peak Climbing gives you an interesting peak climbing experience.
This exciting Chulu West Peak Expedition brings you closer to tranquil landscape, lush vegetation, traditional cultural heritage, and the classic mountains. Annapurna itself is the world’s one of the most beautiful region. Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna stand as the pinnacle of the entire western region. Climbing high to such a splendid and beautiful peak itself is a sense of great victory.
Chulu West has also used a climbing peak for preparing before summiting 8000 m peaks. Peak Climbing requires you to be physically and mentally fit as it requires a lot of physical effort as a well high level of stamina. We will also get the opportunity to experience the different ethnic culture of Nepalese society.
Chulu West is the best peak to the summit in the Annapurna Region. The best time to climb Chulu West Peak is from March-May and September – November.

Today will be a most specious day. We will take you around the Kathmandu Valley for sightseeing. Kathmandu Valley is literally known as the city of temples. It also consists of many amazing World Heritage Sites listed in the UNESCO. Though it is not possible to visit all those places in a single day, we will try our level best to show you as many as possible. Most importantly, we will complete all the necessary preparations for the Chulu West Peak Climbing including paperwork formalities.
Meals: BB Plan
Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for day sightseeing.

Today we will drive along the Prithivi Highway all the way to Chamje. At first, we will pass through the bank of Trishuli River and then through the bank of Marsyangdi River. During the journey through the highway, you can have a close insight of the lush hillside at the backdrop in one hand and the activities of the local people, their socio-economic condition on the other. Until a few years back it was only possible to drive only up to Besisahar, headquarter of Lamjung district but now we can drive up to Chamje because of the expansion of the road. We will spend overnight in a Teahouse after an 8 to 9 hours hectic drive.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Chamje is the starting point of our trek. We will set off from Chamje after having breakfast. We will cross the first of many suspension bridges over the Marsyangdi River and move along the trail that passes through the thick forest. We will cross the terraced farmlands at the Manang Region. Then we will climb up the steep and rocky trail towards the village of Tal and Karte before crossing the landslide affected area. Walking past the village prayer wheel and moving onwards and upwards through grassy trails, we are at Dharapani, a Gurung Village.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Now we will have to move on a trail that is largely affected by landslide. We will move across a village observing the remote lives. Then we will move on a gradual uphill trail all the way to Bagarchhap, a typical Tibetan style village through the forest. From here we will trek along the left bank of the river towards Koto. This is the gateway to the popular Naar Phu Valley Trekking. The trail from here onwards is easy to Chame. Chame is the main administrative hub of Manang.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
We will now trek to Pisang, a small village along the bank of Marsyangdi River. At first, we will move towards Bharatang and continue moving along the bank of Marsyangdi River. Then we will cross the suspension bridge and climb up the trail to Dhikur Pokhari. We will walk through a beautiful coniferous forest and a small settlement of mountain people until we arrive at Pisang. On arriving Pisang, we will have an astonishing view of Pisang Peak and Annapurna II.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Today we will enter into the Manang Valley. We will move along the route that passes through Upper Pisang via Geru village. Hiking on this trail offers you some spectacular views of the Himalayas. Beginning our hike form Pisang, we climb on an uphill trail for half an hour for reaching the top. Once we reach the top, we will stop at the ridge to get our first view of Manang Valley. The view of the valley from here is mind-blowing. We will be able to have a closer view of Humde town with its short airstrip and the considerable peaks that includes Gangapurna, Annapurna II, III, Tilicho, Chulu east and on the back Pisang top. During our trek, we can also visit the Barge Monastery- the largest monastery in the region. As we continue hiking further up, we will pass through several wonderful villages before we commence to the biggest village of the region, Manang. Manang and Mustang, the semi-arid region of Nepal are also known as deserts of Nepal.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
It is must to spend a day for acclimatizing when you go to the high altitude. It is essential to avoid altitude sickness and to ensure a successful summit climb. Hence, today we will spend a day at Manang for acclimatization. You can go for a day hike from Manang either to Parken Gompa Monastery or Chongkor Hill. Among these two sites, Gangapurna Lakeside (Chongkor View Point) offers beautiful views and highly recommended. Though it is a rest day, we strive to adjust the higher altitude and explore the Himalayan assets.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After having a blissful stay at Manang, we will set off from the village after having breakfast. At first, we will climb up the hill which gradually gets steeper the more we ascend high. Continuing the walk through the alpine landscape with high altitude vegetation and forest, we come across the summer pasture area of Yak Kharka. This village is a small settlement established as a stopover place for the Annapurna Circuit trekkers. An hour of uphill walk from Yak Kharka reaches our destination for today. Once we reach Leder, we set up the camp at this high-altitude pasture land for overnight stay.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After having breakfast today we will move on a rather easy trail towards Chulu West Base Camp. It takes around 5 hours of a trek through alpine forest and delicate landscapes for us to reach the Base Camp from Ledar. Once we reach the base camp we can enjoy the stunning views of the pristine Annapurna Ranges. While our crew members are busy setting up the camps at the base camp, we can walk around the base camp to explore the things around the base camp. We can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the surrounding landscapes and alluring peaks.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Now we are in the high altitude region. Our next destination will be Chulu West Peak Camp I. Although the route to the Camp I is not technically challenging we have to carefully place our footsteps as the trail are slippery and a small fault may result in serious casualty. Even though the trail is quite troublesome because of the high altitude, we can enjoy some overwhelming views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains including Manaslu, Gangapurna and Lamjung Himal along the way to the base camp.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
It is not a wise decision to move high without spending the acclimatization day in the high Himalayas. The success of the peak climbing heavily depends upon the way you adjust physically and mentally to the environment in the mountains. Before moving further ahead we spend one more day at the Chulu West Base Camp for acclimatization. Today will be an important day because we will be given a short training about how to fix the rope and use the gears. We will be instructed about how to tackle technical climbing. Moreover, our Sherpa Guide will make an Inspection of the climbing gears and they will check up our health conditions
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After spending a full day at Camp I, we will steadily climb towards Camp II. This section of our trek is little more difficult as we have to move along the rocky trails. We continue hiking towards the Camp II crossing the rocky region slowly and cautiously. Although the climb today doesn’t involve many technical parts, in some places we may have to use ropes, crampon and ice-axe. We stay at the camp II and get prepare ourselves physically and mentally for the most-awaited Chulu West Peak Climbing on the next day.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Early in the morning, we will head towards the Chulu West Peak summit by following the instruction and footsteps of experienced Sherpa Climbing Experts. There is no technical difficulty in reaching the summit but progress can be slow depending on snow conditions. The climb from camp II to the Chulu West Peak Summit is straight forward. High above the Base Camp, some steep loose rocks require some fixing of the ropes. We can’t tackle the tricky rock sections without prior knowledge and guidance of our Climbing experts. After having spent a marvellous time over the peak, we now reverse back to the Chulu West Peak Camp I through the same route.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Today we will move back to Ledar following the same trail. After having the successful Chulu West Peak Climb and spending some glorious moments in the lap of mighty Himalayas we return back to Ledar. While returning back to Ledar, we can enjoy the panoramic views of the Annapurna and other famous mountain peaks.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Today we will move towards Thorong Phedi. Thorong Phedi is the base camp of the prestigious Thorong La Pass in Manang. From ledar, we will start our walk towards Thorong Phedi early in the morning. At the beginning of our walk, we ascend steep downhill before we start our ascent up to the river. Along the trail, you can enjoy the stunning views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorong Peak and Mt. Khatungkan. Once we reach Thorang Phedi, we will take a walk around the area. We spend overnight at the base of Thorong Phedi.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Today is one of the most significant days for all of us. Today, we will climb the Thorong La Pass (5,416m). Our main destination is the Thorong La Pass High Camp. It is set up at Thorong La Pass in the Damodar Himal. After climbing through steep trails for a few hours, we will arrive at the top of the Thorong La. At the top of the pass, we can see Prayer flags, memorials, and some tea houses. The top offers us great views of the surrounding peaks of Annapurna and Gangapurna that include Annapurna, Manaslu, Hiunchuli, and Lamjung Himal.
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

This is yet another memorable and must do a trek of our Chulu West Peak Expedition. After getting a close touch of Thorong La Pass, we follow a steep path down to the sacred land of Muktinath. The place is also known to many as the Mukti Kshetra, the land of salvation. We can have a bathe in the 108 waterspouts in the Muktinath and we can also enjoy the never-ending flame in front of the temple. We will also stroll around Muktinath Temple and enjoy the scene at the backdrop. After getting many blessings of holy Muktinath, we will take a short drive to Jomsom for the overnight stay
Meals: All meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

This will be another wonderful day of our Chulu West Peak Trip. We will catch an early morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Pokhara is the most beautiful city in Nepal. Pokhara is the one and only city in Nepal which has so many worths visiting places. Emerald Lakes, Amazing Caves, Century-old Famous temples, Davis Falls, all are just amazing. We spend the rest of the time visiting these landmarks. The reflection of Machhapuchhre on the heart of serene Phewa Lake is just spellbound.
Meals: BB Plan

After having breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu through Prithivi Highway. We will pass through many small villages and towns. On the way back to Kathmandu we will have plenty of time to observe the rural life, beautiful hills and Trishuli River that flows under.
Meals: BB Plan
Today would be a spare day after a tiring journey. You can either have leisure for resting or your appetite for exploring Kathmandu would be revisited. We can resume our sightseeing around Kathmandu. We will visit the remaining sites which were not possible on the second day. Besides, walking around the busy streets of Thamel would also be the best time spend.
