Overview

Are you looking for some challenging peaks to climb in Nepal? Then try out the Makalu expedition, one of the most technically demanding peaks in the world. It is not a straightforward climb to the top.

Mount Makalu resides in the heart of the Everest region at an altitude of 8463 m, making it the fifth-highest peak globally. This mountain is surrounded by the Barun river and deep isolated Arun valleys.

Makalu lies just 14 miles southeast of Mount Everest (the highest mountain on earth). Mount Makalu has two subsidiary peaks Kang Chun Tse at 7678 m (Makalu II) and Chomo Lonzo at 7804 m.

The trail follows the alpine meadows and pristine forests inside the Makalu-Barun National Park. This area has a wide range of diverse and rich flora and fauna like rhododendron, oaks, sal, and more.

Makalu Expedition also allows exploring the new culture and tradition of Bhatia, Rai, and Sherpa ethnic tribes. The unique treasures are well-preserved by these communities.

You can see several peaks on these routes like Makalu, Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and many more. The tour starts with a scenic flight to Tumlingtar from Kathmandu, and then you drive to Khadbari.

From Khadbari, your trekking journey begins as you head to Chichiri. You pass several villages like Num, Seduwa, Tashigaon, and others on your way to the summit.

You will also cross over several minor and significant passes like Kauma La, Tutu La, Keke La, etc. After reaching the Makalu Base Camp, you set your tents here and begin the training to reach the summit.

After summiting, you head back following the same routes to Tumlingtar and catch a flight back to Kathmandu. Makalu Expedition is a spectacular mountaineering package that awaits you with thrilling adventures.
