Nirekha Peak Climbing is located in the Khumbu or Everest region of Nepal. This fascinating peak rises between the famous Cho La pass at 5,420 meters and the summits of Lobuche. The first ascent of Nirekha Peak was made by Matt Florets and Greg Valentine in April 2003 and is followed by another successful ascent in October 2003 by a women’s team.
Lobuche and Nirekha Peak climbing demands a high level of climbing experience at Gokyo Ri Trek. Not only this, it has immense devotion to face the challenging and technical sections. The climb to the top of the summit is a technical job that needs the usage of ice screws, fixes ropes and ladders. Besides, trekking to the Gokyo Ri Trek summit need crampons, ice axes, and other climbing equipment.
Nirekha Peak Climbing Tour includes an excursion to Gokyo Valley. It consists of several glaciers, five crystal clear and pristine cobalt-blue lakes. So as a hike up to the famous Everest viewpoint – Gokyo-Ri and the crossing of the famous Cho La pass at 5,420 meters. Climbing the summit of Nirekha is worth challenging and difficult. But, for climbers with an adequate desire to the summit, the peak needs a good level of peak climbing experience. Nirekha Peak Mountaineering with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition starts at Kathmandu. After spending a day, making necessary preparations for the climb, we fly from Kathmandu towards the airstrip of Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and the entire Everest Region. From Lukla, we are going to trek step by step through the rugged trails coated by a dense forest crammed with bush, Oak and Pine Trees and head towards the Sherpa capital – Namche Bazaar.
In reality, Namche Bazaar is a picturesque Sherpa market town worth spending an acclimatization day. From there, we follow the main trail heading towards Gokyo Ri Valley. After spending quality time around Gokyo Ri region, we follow the trail. It heads towards the famous and challenging Cho La Pass, but from there, we will follow a tiny trail that heads north towards Nirekha Base Camp. Our Nirekha Peak Trekking continues to high camp which takes more than 2-3 hours of uphill trekking.
As soon as we reach the high camp, our Sherpa crew will set up the camp and make necessary preparations for the successful summit climb. Leaving the high camp, we start early with a vision to reach the summit before noon. The strong winds after midday can create obstacles in reaching the Lobuche Peak Summit. But, with the help and guidance of our experienced climbing experts, we will cross several deep crevasses.
Not only we would also overcome many technical sections to reach the Gokyo Ri Trek with Lobuche Treks & Expedition summit. Once at the top, we are also rewarded with incredible views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Pumori, Lhotse. 45 min Flight & 3 hrs Trek Lodge
After breakfast, we will be transferred to the domestic airport for an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Lukla is the gateway to Khumbu and entire Everest region. After landing at Lukla, we start our trek by following a trail that gradually ascends as we trek along the left bank of Dudh Koshi river. Our trek passes through scrubby pine forest and beautifully painted Mani walls as we arrive at Ghat. From there a mixture of both uphill and downhill trekking will lead us to Phakding.
Meals: All Meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
5-6 hrs Trek Lodge
Leaving Phakding we will cross a long suspension bridge and then trek over an undulating trail that passes through Benkar. We will cross Dudh Koshi river once more and follow the trail that is a gentle uphill climb to a small village of Monjo. Our uphill trekking continues as we pass through densely forested areas and head towards Sagarmatha National Park entry post where we need to register before heading further. After registration, we will descend over the stoned staircase to cross another suspension bridge and then make a long climb to reach Namche Bazaar - The Sherpa Capital.
Acclimatization is very essential for higher altitudes to avoid mental or physical sickness and to ensure the successful climb of Nirekha Peak. Besides, Namche Bazaar is an extensive market town where there is always something to see and places to explore. For acclimatization, we can hike up to Khunde Hospital which was set up by Sir Edmund Hillary, or an hour's walk up to Syangboche at 3800 meters for best views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. There are good views from the National Park Centre and the Museum which is located just above the town.
From Namche Bazaar we will follow the route that heads all the way up to Khumjung, a picturesque village which also has its own Gompa at the top end of the town. From here we will have excellent views of Thamserku, Kantega and Ama Dablam. Soon after leaving Khumjung our trail climbs to a large chorten on top of a ridge. Our trek from the top is a downhill journey down to Phortse Tenga and from there we start to climbs steeply through rhododendron and birch forest towards Dole.
7-8 hrs Trek Lodge
Leaving Dole we will follow the trail that climbs along the side valley and passes along many summer settlement areas as we head towards Machhermo. From Macchermo we head towards the lakes of Gokyo. Our trail is a gradual descent following the meltwater rivers of Ngozumpa Glacier. Then, we start to climb steeply into a valley, passing the first of the five lakes of Gokyo. We will soon arrive at the second lake and the third lake which is also known as Dudh Pokhari. We head towards its eastern shore, the settlement of Gokyo for our overnight stay.
6-7 hrs Trek Tea House Lodge
Gokyo Ri is considered as one of the finest viewpoints in the entire Everest region. We start early and follow a steep trail that zigzags up the hillside. After about two hours of the tiring climb, we will reach the summit of Gokyo Ri. We will witness the magnificent sunrise view over the summits of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and other neighbouring high peaks. We will spend short but quality time at the top before descending back to Gokyo. We will have our lunch at Gokyo and from there it is a short trek to the village of Dragnag - the village is situated on the shore of Ngozumpa Glacier.
3-4 hrs Trek Tented Camp
From Dragnag we will gradually ascend passing through glaciers and rocky mountains towards Cho La Pass but from there we will follow a tiny trail that heads north as we approach towards Nirekha Peak Base Camp. As soon as we reach our campsite, our Sherpa crew will quickly set up the camp and make necessary checks on our health conditions and climbing equipment.
By now we are technically around 5,000 meters above sea level, so acclimatization is very crucial to avoid mental and physical sickness and to ensure our successful climb to the summit. Hence, today we will take a rest for acclimatization and explore around the base camp. Our Sherpa crew will make necessary preparations for setting up camps at higher altitudes.
4-5 hrs Trek Tented Camp
Leaving the base camp, we continue on our trail that ascends steeply for a few hours. We may need to make use of fixed ropes and crampons as the trail to the high camp is often snow-covered and slippery. Hurrying in high alpine altitude is no good idea, so moving one step at a time we head towards a good camping site, where we will set up our High Camp. Our Sherpa crew will make the final preparations for the main summit climb attempt of Nirekha Peak, the following day.
8-9 hrs Trek & Climb Tented Camp
Today is the day we were desperately waiting for. Fully acclimatized and properly equipped we start early with the vision to reach the summit before noon, as the strong winds after midday can create obstacles in reaching the summit. Following the footsteps and guidance of our experienced climbing experts, we will overcome many technical sections and head towards the summit of Nirekha Peak. Our tiring climb to the summit is rewarded with breathtaking views of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Pumori, Thamserku, Tawche, Ama Dablam and other surrounding high mountains. We will spend short quality time at the summit and descend following the same route back to base camp.
After successfully achieving the summit of Nirekha Peak, we will take it easy and start our return journey from the base camp by retracing our steps on the same trail that passes through Dragnag and towards the beautiful Gokyo valley. We will have our lunch at Gokyo and continue on our trek to reach back to Machhermo for our overnight stay.
4-5 hrs Trek Lodge
From Machhermo we will follow a rather easy downhill trekking passing through several summer settlement areas to reach Dole. Our trail from Dole is a steep downhill trekking through dense rhododendron forest towards Phortse Tenga. From there we climb up to a ridge and continue trekking as we pass along the settlement of Khumjung. A rather easy trail from there will lead us back to the Sherpa capital - Namche Bazaar.
The last day of our trek - Nirekha Peak Climbing with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. We descend passing through the densely forested area - a pleasant walk, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote Koshi River crossing it three times. After a while, a final uphill climb of approximately about 45 minutes will bring us back to Lukla.
45 min Flight Hotel/Resort
After breakfast, we will take an early morning scenic flight from Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu. After landing at Kathmandu airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. You can either have rest at Hotel or pay a visit to attraction destination (world heritage sites of UNESCO) sites that weren’t possible on the second day of the trip. Walking around the busy streets of Kathmandu can be worth spending good time around Kathmandu city.
You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. Also, walking around the shopping streets of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will celebrate the successful completion of our Nirekha Peak Climbing and have a final meal together in the evening.

It depends upon the timing that you have made your reservation for the trip. If you have booked the trip in a short span of time then it will not be refunded. To know more about our refund policy visit this link.

Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition will be responsible to make your journey worthwhile and memorable.
In Nepal cultural wise, the tip is expected by the climbing guides and the porters. There no actual ratio for tipping, however some pay as summit bonus to the guides and porters.
